The Language Centre(LC) offers the following consultancy services:

  • Interpretation
  • Translation
  • Proof Reading
  • Editing
  • Certifying

Details of Work Flow
  1. The client shall email LC AR with the relevant documents and details of the required service (type of service, duration, dates, and any specific information).
  2. LC AR will provide a formal quotation for the requested service.
  3. The client shall review and confirm acceptance of the quotation and the service to be rendered.
  4. LC will process the service application with UBD, which typically requires up to two weeks.
  5. Upon approval, LC will notify the client.
  6. The consultant will commence the work and may request additional documents if applicable.
  7. The client shall inform LC once the work has been completed.
  8. UBD Bursar’s Office will issue an invoice to the client.
  9. The client shall make payment directly to the UBD Bursar’s Office.
  10. The service will be deemed completed, and LC extends appreciation for the client’s cooperation.
Duration of Work Flow

1. All services require the following timeframe: 14 working days for proofreading/editing manuscripts of up to 12,000 words; 14 working days translating manuscripts of up to 6000 words (This timeframe includes necessary administrative procedures; actual editorial work on the manuscript will take 5-6 working days).

Definition of Services
  1. Translation: Translation from a language to another language.
  2. Proof Reading: Proofreading services involve correcting grammatical mistakes, spelling/typographical errors, sentence structure, punctuation, capitalisation and style.
  3. Editing: Editing services involve improving text clarity, often by rewriting sentences and paragraphs for flow.
  4. Certifying: Certification of translated documents
  5. Interpretation : Simultaneous Interpretation; Prepared Presentation.

Clients with pre-translated documents who wish to ensure that it is an accurate representation of the original will be charged the translating rate.
